Volvo Cars of North America is proud to have recently partnered with NOYS and joins them in celebrating May as Global Youth Traffic Safety Month. National Organizations for Youth Safety® (NOYS) is a coalition of national organizations, business and industry leaders and federal agencies that serve youth and focus on youth safety and health.
Each May, NOYS encourages youths across the country, and now the world to empower youth to develop and lead traffic safety education projects, support law enforcement and effect legislation to protect teen drivers. May 2012 is the first year Youth Traffic Safety Month has gone Global, with activities planned in USA, Canada, INdia, Kenya, and South America.
Among the leading causes of death for youths worldwide are traffic related crashes, and the summer months are the deadliest on the roads for teen drivers. A large portion of these deaths could be prevented if drivers would avoid distractions, stay focused, slow down, drive substance-free, buckle up, and respect others who share the road. It is never too early to talk to your child about the dangers of distracted driving, drunk or drugged driving, speeding, etc.
Volvo of Tucson would like to encourage you to take some time with your child and visit some of the websites provided below to start their education on road responsibility and help them develop safe habits now, before they ever get behind the wheel.
